Albert Ferrer nascut a Barcelona a el 1952. Llicenciat en matemàtiques per la Universitat de Barcelona (UB) el 1979 y Doctor en matemàtiques per la Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) el 2003. Professor titular del departament de Matemàtica Aplicada 1,MA1, de la Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. Els seus camps d’investigació són l’Anàlisi Convex, la Convexitat Abstracta i l’Optimització Global. És membre del Grup de Modelització i Optimització Numèrica de la UPC (GNOM) y del grup internacional Working Group on Generalized Convexity (WGGC).
